You may not know it now, but I struggled in school and was made fun of for not being able to read in 1st grade. I actually got in trouble for it and the teacher took recess away from me. I was embarrassed, shamed, and scolded for not being on track like my peers. I was ignored and constantly felt like I didn’t matter and wasn’t good enough. I even had to repeat first grade.
So when I say I get it, I truly do.
But as with many challenges, I now see the gift in it.
I am able to connect with these children and support families who are feeling frustrated and at-their-wits-end.
I’ve even been dubbed the child whisperer because I TRULY see and hear the children. I help them to feel loved and safe. I connect with them on a different level.
My methods work from the inside out. In order to have academic success, you have to have confidence. Which is why my academic support includes emotional, social and academic components.
