Kids feel our energy.
The good, bad, and the ugly. 😬

Breathe. And give yourself permission to not be perfect.

Our kids do not have the language but the have a heightened awareness of our energy.

Validate their awareness and let them in. 💖

I believed doing this:
⚡️validates them
⚡️teaches them to TRUST THEMSELVES
⚡️shows them how to not be perfect
⚡️deepens your connection

I shared this concept in my newsletter yesterday and how I owed my daughter a conversation.

May is a high stress month and many opportunities to lose our cool. Remember it’s ok. It’s the follow up that matters most. 💖

Almost every mom I work with has experienced or is experiencing what I call:
Spring Fever Parenting Death Trap. 🎣

Sure, on the surface it looks like you are getting sh*t done, but on the inside you are struggling. 🤯

Not the “I need therapy” struggle but the quiet, guilt-ridden antsy struggle.

You manage “the fever” by:
👉 extra around the house
👉 plan fun things for your kids
👉 block out the noise with a glass of wine and Netflix.

You finally get to bed to wake up and do it all over again.

Ever find yourself in a situation where you witness poor behavior from someone else’s child and you don’t know how to handle it?

🤦‍♀️worried about embarrassing your child if you say something?
😳worried those kids might call you a *itch.
😬worried you will offend their parents?

Ya, me too. Of course we worry about all those things. 👉We want to be the one our kids friends love to be around.

But do all kids want to be around “nice” adults? Do all kids respect “nice” adults?
Do all kids TRUST “nice” adults?

I believe kids are DEMANDING us adults to step up and tell them to knock it off when they are out of line.

Being “nice” only creates monsters. Let’s step up and be the adults our kids need.

When your child begins telling you about someone at school:

🔴DON’T ask them a direct question.
➡️ this sends their brain to panic mode.
➡️frustrates them bc they don’t have the language

🔗Breaks your connection.

🟢DO- “tell me more”
➡️ calms the brain to a safe place
➡️ allows processing time to find their words.

🔗sends the message that you care and here to listen.

*note* I’m not saying you’re not allowed to ask direct questions. I’m offering a magic sentence to help you to get your kid to SHARE MORE.

Sometimes our kids tease us. Give us a bite size of their story and we want the whole thing. Try this sentence and see if you at least get TWO BITES!
